Best Game Music of 2008 :: Editorial by Staff and Contributors

It's time for Square Enix Music Online to celebrate the best original scores, arranged albums, and original albums of 2008. This year five of our staff members and contributors decided what their favourites were and explain their opinions in their write-ups. While Don, Zane, and Z-Freak elaborate on their three favourites in each category, Chris and Resk give their perspectives on developments as a whole.

This year has seen many important releases. Original scores have included Lost Odyssey, Soma Bringer, Metal Gear Solid 4, Soul Calibur IV, and No More Heroes. There have been fewer arranged albums, but those released include The Black Mages III, Drammatica, Symphonic Shades, Video Games Live Volume One, and Echoes of War.

Please note that this is intended to reflect the opinions of the individuals, not the masses. However, please feel free to offer your own input about your favourites here. Furthermore, not all will share Chris' negative view on the development of game music during 2008. Now let's see everyone's favourites:
