Brief Profile
Daisuke Ishiwatari is the designer of the Guilty Gear series. He joined SNK in 1997 to design two stages on the fighting The Last Blade and subsequently formed the development team Team Neo Blood intending to design the revolutionary new fighting game Guilty Gear. The game offered a poignant story of man's fight against machines, gothic aesthetics, an incredible cast, extravagant character designs, challenging gameplay, and an unforgettable soundtrack.
With Guilty Gear X and Guilty Gear XX, Ishiwatari achieved critical and commercial success with multi-platform game releases and soundtrack releases alike. He has also overseen the production of vocal albums, drama CDs, concerts, art books, and spinoff titles. His latest Guilty Gear titles, Guilty Gear Isuka and Guilty Gear 2 Overture, have expanded the horizons of the series but haven't been as commercially successfully.
In recent years, Ishiwatari has had guest roles designer characters in Sangokushi Taisen DS, illustrating cards for Dimension Zero, and voice acting on Battle Fantasia. He is currently the sound director of Guilty Gear's intended successor, the 2D versus fighting game BlazBlue: Calamity Trigger. Though his series' future is uncertain, Ishiwatari has been principally responsible for its success with his inspirational direction and numerous roles.
